RUMOR is art turned into fashion: Interview with Issabela Camil

Last weekend I had the chance to meet Issabela Camil virtually, and we spoked about her latest project RUMOR. We had never met before the interview. I first came across her brand when Tetetlán posted one of her pieces on their instagrams feed. I was intrigued by the beautiful lines and originality in the image I saw.

RUMOR is art turned into fashion.

The garments are one of a kind and embrace individuality, visual poetry and spontaneity . Rumors Silhouettes are wide and exude style while attaining ultimate comfort. But it doesn’t stop there, Rumor wanted to offer their clients the possibility of personalizing each garment with a unique motif, so Issabela summoned Zacatecan born artist Susana Salinas to create a surrealist, naive abc that has become the trademark stamp of the brand.

However the brand still needed to fill a key spot, the designers chair remained empty for quite a while, until Issabela stumbled on Begoña Palacios work and instantly knew she was exactly what she had been looking for.

Each garment is custom made. The buyer gets to choose from 3 silhouettes , the color of the fabric they prefer and one of the 27 letters offered in their very unique and whimsical alphabet. The piece is then meticulously hand embroidered by the brands designer Begoña Palacios in her atelier in Madrid.

So next time you are looking to wrap yourself in a dreamy kimono, a chic Huipil or a voluptuous robe be sure to visit Rumor.
